Carrol Gardens was traditionally an Italian neighborhood and retains some of that flavor to this day. It is mainly residential with great architecture. Lovely gardens pepper the neighborhood, often in front of residences, hence the neighborhood's name.

Dumbo has changed a lot since I first shared a studio space there in the early 2000's. It is mainly where I started taking pictures (see my Cityscapes collection) and boasts breathtaking views of both the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges, as well as lovely parks, and lots of old brick building.

I shot most of the images for this piece in 2017 at a time when Greenpoint has been dubbed one of the hottest neighborhoods in New York.
This image is focused on Greenpoint's history, featuring remnant's of a strong Polish, industrial and working class culture. From old pencil factories to modern sculptures lurking in the most unusual places, Greenpoint is truly spectacular and worth the visit.

Red hook is famous for its sunsets, remoteness, industrial and maritime history.
Changing slightly slower than many of Brooklyn's emerging neighborhoods, Red Hook can still feel worlds away from Manhattan and the rest of Brooklyn.
This image features much of that history, from Fort Defiance to the fields filled with activity many days of the week.

It seems as if the Lower East Side has been here forever. Historically, it was the first home for many immigrants and continues to this day to attract a young adventurous crowd. New restaurants and music venues lay side to side with tenements and ancient synagogues. The signs and street art are also everywhere, adding artistic layers wherever one chooses to look.
